I've used your RTL8187b page to get Ubuntu working successfully on the Netgear WG111v3 USB keys.

I took your modified tarball, and then ran 'patch -p1 &#60; 2.6.24.patch' - that worked ok - and then I had to change the code to support the new device ID of the Netgear (0846:4260)

Insert a new line 98 into rtl8187/r8187_core.c
{USB_DEVICE(USB_VENDOR_ID_NETGEAR, 0x4260)},

[this adds recognizing the Netgear device]

And at line 2855 -- immediately above the "case 0x8189:" add the line:

case 0x4260:
